Wellness Examinations & Vaccines
We believe in preventative medicine as the best approach to keeping our patients healthy. This includes annual wellness examinations, vaccinations on a yearly or every three-year basis, external and internal parasite prevention, and dietary management. At MRAH we don’t offer vaccines in “packages”, because we believe in tailoring the vaccinations according to you and your pet’s needs. We will discuss in detail what your options are to help you make the best possible health decisions for your pet.
Parasites
Can’t remember how your pet can get heartworm disease? Does your pet have fleas and you just don’t know what to do? What do ticks look like anyway? What should you do if you see worms-yuk! Our helpful and educated staff can help you with any questions you may have about the products your pet needs. From heartworm disease to internal parasite control, we will help you get your pet on the road to great health. We carry a full line of products to keep your pet free from parasites like heartworm, intestinal worms, ticks, and fleas.
Puppy Classes & Training
In January 2009, Michigan Road Animal Hospital joined with Catherine Steinke of Sensible K9! She provides puppy classes for our clients as well as the Indianapolis community taught at our new location on 96th Street. Call for more details!
Behaviorial Counseling
Do you have questions about potty-training your new puppy? Why is your adult cat suddenly not using the litter box? How should you attempt to crate train your “older” adopted dog? How do I get my cat to stay off the furniture?
From puppy and kitten-hood through even the most mature years, our friendly & knowledgeable staff can help counsel, advise & teach you all about those behaviors that have got you boggled.
Advice is given on a case by case basis, just give us a call if you’ve got a question!
Nutritional Needs
Sometimes pets develop conditions requiring a food change, from the type you would find at the local pet store to a prescription diet food only found at a veterinarian’s office. Your pet’s veterinarian will help you make the right decision should his/her dietary needs change. MRAH carries the full line of Iams/Eukanauba Prescription Diet foods and Hill’s Prescription Diet foods. MRAH @ 96th Street carries the Hills line of Prescription Diets as well as Purina’s Prescription Diets to satisfy even the most finicky appetite.
Geriatric Care Programs
We encourage comprehensive health screenings and early detection programs for aging pets. A geriatric consultation can determine what arthritis medications, if any, would be best suited for your older pet. Our doctors can provide a variety of services, blood work and/or dietary management your older pet needs for continued happiness. This is especially pertinent for those pets with joint and skeletal issues who may need our help with pain management.
Microchipping
We are strong believers in the importance and life-saving benefits of microchips! If your pet isn’t microchipped already; what are you waiting for?
Microchips are a safe, permanent means of identification. Unlike collars and tags that can slip away, or be taken off, a microchip stays with your pet forever. We provide this service at MRAH without an appointment, any time during our office hours. Our pets are microchipped with HomeAgain Microchips & we take care of mailing all of the forms in for you!
